Silvia Karlsson is a Mechanical and Aerospace Engineer for General Motors. She works on airplane integration. There has to be enough air to cool the engines or else they break. She works on fuel economy and engine safety. She manages air flow in engines.
Silvia decided to become an engineer because she loved math and science growing up. Her Father encouraged her to go into engineering. She got her BS from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in New York. She took classes in physics, air chemical changes, fluid dynamics, physics, chemistry and computer science. Silvia solves problems like how to store heat in an engineer compartment when it gets really hot. She loves making a difference in the world. She helps to create the solution with future technology. Engineering is behind all advancing technologies. She likes to be in the forefront of these new ideas. |
