Allison Goodman works at Intel as a Senior Systems Engineer/Product Technical Lead. Intel designs and builds the essential technologies that serve as the foundation for the world's computers. Your laptop probably has an INTEL processor inside it that makes it work. She creates the solid state drives which replace hard drives with a faster much more energy efficient way to save images, files, videos and makes the solid state drive work.
In school, Allison excelled in math and science. Both her parents are engineers, her dad a Chemical Engineer and her mom an Architectural Engineer. She attended Cornell University and took classes in environmental and material engineering before choosing her engineering degree. She conducted research on materials for fabrication of computer parts. Allison decided to go into electrical and computer engineering. Allison loves her job because she gets to solve problems every day. Also, people can use and interact with the products she creates. Last year, Allison helped Google build a database with her solid state drives that provided data so quickly to search algorithms that they helped Google guess what the searcher wanted. That is very cool. |
